Community Outreach is a combination of ongoing programs and events that reach out in service to community families
Current programs include:
Fall School Backback and School Supply Giveway - Collecting and distributing supplies for local elementary school children.
Warming up Kids - Winter collection of clothing for kids with distribution at the elementary schools
Community Information - A community resources list of social services
Socks for the Homeless – Distributed by Union Gospel Mission.
Simonka House - Health and dental supplies for Simonka House for Women
Little Library - Providing an exchange of free books and Bibles for children on the church property Primary community partners for these services have been Four Corners Elementary and Mary Eyre Elementary Schools.
Social Media Outreach - We are currently working on developing an online outreach program through use of social media options.
Who is My Neighbor? - a listening post to hear from community speakers representing the diversity of this community. To this point, speakers have included African American, Hispanic, Jewish, immigrants, LBGTQ, former inmates, those living at or below the poverty line.
Blessing Bags - a program in partnership with the Marion County Sheriff's Dept. to collect and distribute gallon bags of helpful items for the homeless and emergency needs; including water and snacks, hygiene and first aid items, and socks
Feeding the Needy - helping to provide food for weekly distribution at the Lords Cupboard , a food pantry at Trinity Methodist Church. This includes host an annual drive for Thanksgiving baskets and gift cards for local families.
Harvest Fest - an annual event hosted by our youth to provide games, food and fun for neighborhood kids and their families.
In response to COVID, many of our programs are on hold at this time. Our teams are innovating to continue to reach out to our community through online programming, gift cards, and continuing to collect for the needy in our community.
